Speaker Straus is a native of San Antonio, Texas. He is graduate of Vanderbilt University with a BA in Political Science, and was elected Speaker of the Texas House for the 2009 session and re-elected for the 2011 session. Speaker Straus has served in the Texas House of Representatives since 2006.
