We established the Empower Texans Political Action Committee to promote men and women who will fight for taxpayer protections, a free economy and sound public policy.
The recently concluded 2009 legislative session highlights why Texans for Fiscal Responsibility and the Empower Texans PAC are so despeately needed. The average legislator score on the Fiscal Responsibility Index was a 52.09% — far below failing. Republicans in the Texas House had an 81.7, while Democrats a 30.9.
Legislators endorsed by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, and supported by the Empower Texans PAC, had an average rating of 88.2!
We’re working to elect the good guys!
And it is paying off!
In the 2010 primary season, our encorsees won across the state. The candidates we endorsed for the Texas House easily won election after election, including David Simpson beating entrenched incumbent Tommy Merritt in Longview.
In contested primary races, the our endorsees won nearly 80 percent of the time!
In the run-off, six of the seven candidates for the Texas House easily won their nomination. And as in the case of the defeat of incumbent Delwin Jones at the hands of endorsee Charles Perry, there isn’t a general election challenge!
Texans for Fiscal Responsibility and the Empower Texans PAC will not necessarily endorse a candidate in every legislative district. Our endorsements are based only on our favorable view of the candidate endorsed, and does not necessarily imply criticism of other candidates in the race. Additional endorsements may be offered before the election.
