Well, that didn't take long. The pro-tax team and their media shills at the Dallas Morning News to lay fault for defeat of their tax-and-fee at the feet of pesky taxpayers who didn't line-up in support.
The Tarrant County Judge, Glen Whitley, is quoted on the Dallas Morning News blog [1] as saying, "I don't think any of us really believed that the opposition would be more successful in getting the grass roots support ...while we had a lot of (official) support back home, we didn't have the people calling in and basically filling up (lawmakers' phone) system."
What a SHOCK! In a deep recession taxpayers aren't running out to support higher taxes and more fees. Apparently Judge Whitley needs to get out and about more often.
As an aside, I see that the Dallas Morning News subscribers dropped 9.9% from last year. What ever could the market be saying...
