Tax Sweat

One way to avoid listening to taxpayers is to simply keep them out of earshot. Take, for example, Collin County in north Texas. County commissioners there are going to take up discussion next week on a proposal to build a county-employees-only physical fitness facility. While government shouldn’t be in the business of competing with the private sector (through “community center” programs that include work-out facilities), they certainly shouldn’t build such facilities and exclude taxpayers from use. The only thing exercised in this project is the boondoggle muscle. The only thing sweating will be the taxpayers’ nervous, over-burdened wallet.

Isnt the county judge here,

Isnt the county judge here, keith self, a strong conservative? how does he let this even get on the agenda?

Read my comment. Do the research. I assume the Judge is trying to save money. Don't follow Michael Sullivan one-sided, brainless comments. Demand he does the full story. As a fiscal conservative, I had hoped that this "fiscal responsibility" organization would be just that. But, all he has shown is that he is against spending a penny of tax dollars without any analysis or thought. Sad, sad, sad. Let's demand he actually do some work and think.

Bias; Brainless

Michael,

Again you show your bias against government spending a penny. I have not done the research on the rationale of Collin County to building the physical fitness facility AND YOU DID NOT PROVIDE THAT RATIONALE IN YOUR POSTING EVEN THOUGH YOU DID THE RESEARCH (Shame on you). However, if the Commissioners Court did an analysis that showed that requiring County employees to be in better health (lose weight) and providing the facility to do it would save on health insurance, then the Commissioners Court is performing its obligation to the taxpayers to be good stewards of the public dollar.

Your comment about the public not having access to the facility is your typical brainless (I am always right, government is always wrong) thinking. Do you promote taxpayers taking a police car or fire truck for a spin anytime they want because those vehicles are paid for with tax dollars? Or, can we taxpayers go pick up some ordinance at Fort Hood and use it to blow off some steam or remove stumps anytime we want? Micheal, your bias and stupidity are showing.

Do you object to the Williamson County Commissioners Court's trying to save money by going to a four-day work for its Road & Bridge Department?
