Conservatives like to joke about pork-barrel projects being a "monument to big government" or a "monument to waste." Well, let this be a warning about how you joke in the future: the North Texas Toll Authority has now created a monument to big-government porkers. All big-spenders who just happen to still be spending your money.
You just have to love this. The NTTA today unveiled a MONUMENT dedicated to: State Sen. John Carona, Texas Transportation Commission Chairman David Laney, University of North Texas chancellor Lee Jackson, and a couple others.
The story says these spenders were honored for their "Contributions To Transportation." Contributions? They TAXED us! They diverted the money! They SPENT money.
Classic case of a government entity using tax dollars to reward the spenders.
No telling how much this monument cost, but I have no doubt you and I paid big for it.

The good news is that
The good news is that Senator Carona has been removed recently as head of the Senate transportation committee. The bad news is that very few people, especially in government, see anything wrong with using tax money to memorialize current elected officials. It’s just another form of using taxpayers’ money to lobby against taxpayers and, another example of profligate government waste.

It is my prayer, that the 2010 and 2012 elections will remove many, if not most, of these MONUMENT TO SELF spenders. These corrupted politicians should be worrying that their illicit spendings sprees won't be found before the next elections. Many, many, many more voters are watching closely and reading everything possible, to learn who is being truthful and who is not, and who is corrupt. Washington D.C. has put voters on a path to clearing out and cleaning up our politicians. States legislatures have done little or nothing to stop federal government taking States rights away and eroding individual freedoms, using higher taxes, unfunded mandates, UNCONSTITUTIONAL regulations and welfare legislation. Enough is enough. STOP THE SPENDING.
