El Paso has one of the highest tax rates in Texas. Higher taxes mean less money in the pocket of hardworking El Pasoans, which has lead to the highest unemployment in the Lone Star State.
It isn’t compassionate to crush El Pasoans under a mountain of taxes for new services that aren’t even needed. But that's precisely what some are hoping to do with a bond election that would create more debt for a new "children's" hospital that isn't even needed.
That’s right, El Paso’s current hospitals aren’t even full. All the specialties to protect children, an intensive care unit and other services are already here.
Now, this November you must make a choice: higher taxes for a building that isn’t needed, or a vote against higher taxes for working families.
This project costs too much, and it does too little. El Paso doesn't need more taxes or more debt.
