BillWhiteForTaxes.com Launches Today
As the campaign season heats up, Texans for Fiscal Responsibility today announced the launch of BillWhiteForTaxes.com, an independent look at the campaign tactics of gubernatorial candidate Bill White.
“The site is a take-off on Mr. White’s own website, intended to draw readers into asking more questions about the issues facing the state – and Mr. White’s policy prescriptions,” said Michael Quinn Sullivan, president of Texans for Fiscal Responsibility.
“Bill White’s own website is frustratingly short on details, so BillWhiteForTaxes.com will use humor and analysis to decode what he does, and doesn’t, say,” noted Sullivan. “With liberal politicians like Mr. White, it seems we’re expected to trust his good intentions for the goals he states. In the real world of public policy, knowing ‘how’ goals are to be achieved is more important than just the hearing about the goals themselves.”
More often than not, Sullivan added, “Bill White’s proposals come down to three fundamental actions: raise taxes, grow government, or both. At seemingly every turn, Bill White’s Texas would see higher tax burdens and more intrusive government.”
The BillWhiteForTaxes.com website went live at noon on Monday, August 16, primarily the work of volunteer efforts led by TFR activists. New features and sections will be added in the coming weeks, and content added as Mr. White’s own website is modified.
The BillWhiteForTaxes.com project is paid for by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, without authorization or coordination with any candidate or candidate committee, in keeping with the rules of Texas Ethics Commission and the recent U.S. Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision.
