Teachers in north Texas are spending tax dollars for retreats at the Gaylord Texan resort and convention center in nearby Grapevine. They’ll be staying at the expensive convention complex, hearing from motivational speakers, and blowing a big wad of cash intended to raise test scores.
Rooms at the Gaylord go for $200 a night. One bureaucratic bozo told the Fort Worth Star Telegram that this gives employees a chance to “meet away from the school.”
Another set of teachers had their spend-the-night retreat at their local Marriott near Texas Motor Speedway. The principal reported that the “teachers seemed inspired.” Oh, goody.
With all the administration buildings, sports stadiums, complexes and performing arts centers, one wonders why these bureaucratic pep rallies cannot be held on district-owned property. Probably couldn’t waste enough money if they diud that.
